Electrical Engineer

What do you get to do in this position?

  • DCIM and EPMS Systems Support: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Electric Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software systems as they relate to electrical infrastructure monitoring and control.
  • Site Surveys & Power Assessments: Conduct customer site assessments to evaluate power infrastructure (UPS, switchgear, PDU, RPP, etc.) and instrumentation for compatibility with DCIM platforms.
  • Power System Design & Integration: Support the development and refinement of power distribution designs, ensuring integration of monitoring points and controls into the DCIM architecture.
  • Commissioning & Testing: Participate in startup, commissioning, and integration testing of power monitoring and control systems to validate functionality and data integrity.
  • Electrical Equipment Analysis: Help identify legacy or underperforming power systems and recommend upgrades to improve reliability and support long-term infrastructure goals.
  • Standards & Documentation: Analyze and interpret maintain wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, submittal packages, and test documentation for power systems and instrumentation to be replicated in our DCIM software.
  • Field Support: Collaborate with contractors and customers during installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning phases to ensure system operability.
  • Controls & Instrumentation: Develop and validate solutions involving data acquisition from meters, relays, PLCs, and other smart electrical devices over industrial protocols.
  • Energy Optimization: Help identify opportunities to improve power efficiency, load balancing, and system resilience within the electrical infrastructure.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with software, mechanical, and networking teams to ensure seamless integration between electrical infrastructure and the DCIM platform.
  • Project Planning: Assist with the development of electrical scopes, execution plans, budgets, and timelines as part of proposal and implementation processes.
  • System Validation: Verify end-to-end performance of electrical systems through detailed testing and functional validation, ensuring full alignment with DCIM requirements.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as a technical resource for clients and internal teams on electrical aspects of system design and implementation.

This job might be for you if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical systems engineering, preferably in critical facilities such as data centers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Familiarity with low-voltage and medium-voltage systems, including UPS, switchgear, PDU, RPP, and generator integration.
  • Understanding of electrical one-lines, control schematics, and equipment layout drawings.
  • Knowledge of Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, and other protocols used in power monitoring and control systems.
  • Experience in commissioning and troubleshooting electrical systems in the field.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD and project documentation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites across the U.S. (approximately 25% travel).
  • Must be eligible to obtain necessary credentials for site access, including but not limited to: background checks, drug testing, Homeland Security clearance, and/or a valid passport.

Qualifications, Desirable:

  • Field service leadership, providing emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, start-up services, and technical support nationwide.
  • Strong communicator and technical writer, capable of developing commissioning scripts, test schedules, and operational procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of critical systems, including UPS systems, electrical distribution, high voltage equipment, and backup power infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and IEEE / ANSI
